Currently, the Covid-19 translation is still complicated, but due to the participation of the whole community, the epidemic situation in Vietnam is gradually being controlled and the Government is also implementing international exchange policies. So in this context, how will a people entering Vietnam more than 14 days need to be quarantined?
Subjects of application
After recognizing the positive signals in the control of the epidemic, the Government agreed to allow foreigners to enter Vietnam, and to implement the Prime Minister’s directives, The Ministry of Health has issued documents to implement, which will allow entry to the following subjects (collectively referred to as immigrants):
– Foreigners holding diplomatic passports, official passports, investors, skilled workers, business managers, objects under cooperation agreements with relatives;
– International students;
– Foreign relatives of Vietnamese citizens.
All of the above persons must be from a country with good disease control and the procedure outlined below will apply to people who enter Vietnam and stay for more than 14 days.
The procedure for quarantine monitoring for people entering Vietnam more than 14 days
Before entry into Vietnam
An entry person needs to do the following procedures before entering Vietnam:
– Registration of the quarantine facility focus on quarantine upon entry and attach a specific work schedule in Vietnam to the competent authority;
– Prepare confirmation of negative for SARS-CoV-2 using virus genetic material detection (ARN) test technique (RT-PCR/RT-LAMP, etc.) of the pre-authorized medical authority. 3-5 days upon entry. Certifications should be in English.

Upon entry
Upon arrival at the border gate or airport, the person entering the country will have to present a negative certificate to SARS-CoV-2 for inspection by the authorized person. Then, the person on entry will be measured body temperature, medical examination to detect suspected cases of disease.
Immigrants are then required to provide information about the centralized isolator and electronic medical declaration, and install and use the guided traceability applications.
People on entry will be allowed to take samples for testing at the border (if any) and perform rapid tests using genetic material detection (RNA) testing techniques of viruses or antigen detection. If the test result is positive, the immigrant will be medically isolated at the medical facility, take samples for testing, take care and treatment according to the current regulations for cases of Covid-19. If the test result is negative or the test result is unknown, the person on entry will be taken to the registered concentrated quarantine facility.
If the rapid test is not done at the border gate, the person on entry will move to the registered concentrated isolation facility.
At a concentrated quarantine facility Immigrants
whose test results are unknown or do not get a quick test at the border gate will be taken to the concentrated isolation facility. As soon as they are taken to the quarantine facility, oncoming visitors will be given a patient sample for SARS-CoV-2. If the test results are positive, the onlookers will immediately be isolated from the medical center, collect samples for testing, and take care of treatment according to regulations. If the test result is negative, keep quarantine, monitoring, and medical supervision until the second sample is taken.
People entering will be allowed to take a second sample on the 6th day from the date of entry. If there is a positive test result, it is necessary to immediately isolate the medical center at the medical facility, take samples for testing, take care of treatment according to the current regulations. Close contacts of subjects will be placed on quarantine for 14 days. If the second test result is negative, the person on entry is allowed to move to the residence (residence, official house, workplace of the inbound) to continue quarantine until it is full 14 days take measures to prevent epidemics according to current guidance of the Ministry of Health.
At the residence
If the second test result is negative, the person on entry will be allowed to return to the accommodation and quarantine for 14 days, where, the immigration person still needs to strictly implement monitoring measures of health care, isolation, epidemic prevention, avoid contact with the community and immediately notify health authorities when there are signs of suspicion of disease. At the same time, onlookers can keep the information of those in close contact with them to assist the epidemic prevention agencies.
