FROM DECEMBER 2023, VNEID CAN BE USED FOR REPLACEMENT OF HEALTH INSURANCE CARD FOR MEDICAL EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT

From December 3, 2023, VNeID can be used for replacement of Health Insurance card for medical examination, according to the provisions of Decree 75/2023/ND-CP issued on October 19, 2023 amending and supplementing Decree Decree 146/2018/ND-CP guiding the Law on Health Insurance.

Adjusting the regulations on presenting Health Insurance card when going for medical examination.

Accordingly, level 2 electronic identification documents have been added as a valid method of proving the process of participating in health insurance, which can be used for replacement of Health Insurance card during medical examination and treatment.

Quoting Clause 6, Article 1 of Decree 75/2023/ND-CP amending and supplementing Clause 1, Article 15 of Decree 146/2018/ND-CP guiding the Law on Health Insurance as follows:

“1. Health insurance participants must present their health insurance card with photo or citizen identification card when undergoing medical examination and treatment; In case of presenting a health insurance card without a photo, one must also present one of the identification documents with a photo issued by a competent agency or organization or a confirmation from the commune-level police or another document with a photo. confirmation from the educational institution where the student is managed; Other legal identity documents or level 2 electronic identification documents according to the provisions of Decree No. 59/2022/ND-CP dated September 5, 2022 of the Government regulating identification and electronic authentication”.

Documents and applications are allowed to be used for replacement of Health Insurance card from December 03, 2023.

Thus, in addition to the traditional health insurance card, currently health insurance participants can also use one of the following methods for medical examination and treatments:

i. CCCD or other legal proof of identity;

ii. Level 2 electronic identification documents (VNeID);

iii. VSSID (Digital Social Insurance Application).
